Bill prevents smoking at school bus stops

Sen. Cecilia Tkaczyk has introduced a bill that would prohibit smoking at school bus stops.

The bill (S.7520) would ban smoking up to 15 feet from a designated school bus stop during the morning and afternoon hours, while children are being picked up and dropped off for school.

"This legislation will play a dual role in safeguarding the health of our children. Not only will it protect children from second hand smoke, but it may also help children avoid taking up the cigarette habit themselves," said Tkaczyk, D-Duanesburg.
