Transfer Station Opponents Put Ad Blitz On Hold As Talks With Sanitation Commissioner Continue

NEW YORK(CBSNewYork) — The President of ‘Pledge to Protect’ said that she will be holding onto an ad blitz as talks with Sanitation Commissioner Kathryn Garcia, regarding an Upper East Side garbage transfer station, continue.

“I thought it was an appropriate accommodation at that time to say, ‘you know what? She has been sincere and I want to acknowledge that sincerity and give this some time to work with the community and address the concerns,’” Kelly Nimmo-Guenther said.

The group has now joined forces with opponents of a similar garbage transfer station that has been planned in Brooklyn, and called for a complete audit of the solid waste management plan.
