Senate may vote on heroin legislation next week

Jeff Murray

The state Senate is moving forward on a package of legislation co-sponsored by Sen. Tom O’Mara, R-Big Flats, aimed at addressing the growing heroin crisis across New York.

The legislation was reported out of the Senate Rules Committee on Wednesday and is expected to be voted on by the full Senate this week, according to a news release from O’Mara’s office.

The Senate’s comprehensive anti-heroin legislative strategy was unveiled last week by the joint, bipartisan Senate Task Force on Heroin and Opioid Addiction, on which O’Mara serves.
