City report ranks dangerous intersections for pedestrians

If you're traversing New York City by foot, best beware of 57th Street.

Or so suggests a new, legally required report on the city's 20 most dangerous intersections that New York City's transportation department uploaded to its website earlier this month. Called the "High Pedestrian Crash Locations" report, it details the 20 intersections in New York City with the highest incidence of seriously injured or killed pedestrians.

The intersection where West 57th Street crosses Eighth Avenue was the worst, with eight pedestrians badly injured or killed there between 2007 and 2011.

In fact, 57th Street makes three appearances on the top 20 list, with the intersections at Sixth and Third avenues both playing host to five pedestrian injuries or deaths.
