Report: Elevated Levels Of Tritium Found Near Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) – There’s been a spike in radioactive material discovered in groundwater beneath the Indian Point nuclear power plant, WCBS 880 reported.

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission and Entergy, which operates the plant, are trying to locate the source of the tritium.

Two monitoring wells picked up a spike in levels of the isotope in groundwater and bedrock under the plant in March, WCBS 880?s Sean Adams reported.
