Quinnipiac: Mayor de Blasio's approval rating growing, but so is race gap on how he's viewed

CELESTE KATZ

New Yorkers are more impressed with the work Mayor de Blasio is doing now than they were in March, but the gap between how he's graded between black voters and whites has grown slightly, a new poll shows.

The Quinnipiac poll released Wednesday has Hizzoner with a 51% - 28% overall job approval rating, up from 45% - 34% in March.

The new results nearly bring de Blasio back to the honeymoon-era approval rating of 53% - 13% he enjoyed two weeks into his term.

But white voters are near-evenly split on the mayor's performance, with 41% saying they approve and 42% disapproving. It's a slight improvement from March, when de Blasio had a negative 39% - 45% Q Poll rating among whites.
