Court approves Taxi of Tomorrow, mayor still doesn’t

Dana Rubinstein

This afternoon, a reporter asked Mayor Bill de Blasio if he has changed his opinion on a Bloomberg-era plan to replace nearly all yellow taxis with custom-designed Taxi of Tomorrow, now that an appeals court has ruled that the program can in fact move forward.

De Blasio's response: "No."

Then, elaborating slightly, he said, "I have the same critique I had before."

When de Blasio was running for mayor, he came out against a Bloomberg administration plan to populate the city's yellow taxi fleet with a Nissan vehicle designed especially for New York City streets.
