GLENN BLAIN
Gov. Cuomo, who has made combating high property taxes a focal point of his re-election campaign, said Thursday he was uncertain how his local town assessed its property values and did not know whether the local assessor was allowed to view the inside of his Westchester home.
I dont know that the assessor wasnt allowed in, Cuomo told reporters in Peekskill.
The governor was responding to a report in The Journal News that New Castle Town Assessor Phil Platz was denied access to the home Cuomo shares with Food Network star Sandra Lee during a May 27th visit to the property. (37,449 posts)they do not have a legal right. They also cannot look at or use any real estate program on the internet either. My uncle was an assessor for more than 35 yrs.

(37,449 posts)why should you pay more? If the footprint of the structure hasn't changed and it the same as the neighbors then they must assess them equally. Interior trim or features shouldn't matter as improvements. If you add a pool, porch, deck or Garage, etc then one would expect an increase.
They tried to use a bogus trick to see the inside of my house to see if I had smoke dectors and co2 detectors in each room....its a single family dwelling occupied by me. Why because we change an exterior canopy from aluminum to wooden structure. They tried to claim it was interior structure.
