NY Senate Democrats prepared to vote against medical marijuana if they feel bill is watered down

NY Senate Democrats prepared to vote against medical marijuana if they feel bill is watered down: sources

KEN LOVETT

Senate Democrats, already upset that they are not being consulted on the negotiations over a medical marijuana bill, have not ruled out voting against the measure if it hits the floor.

The Dems, after discussing the matter Wednesday, say they will wait to see what a potential bill looks like but will have no compunction voting against it if they believe it is watered down too much.

One source said the Dems were prepared to vote “no” regardless in order to deny the Senate Republican-dissident Democrat leadership coalition another victory heading into election season.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has again compared himself to Gumby when describing his approach to negotiations.

The Democratic governor told reporters Wednesday that he "is a veritable Gumby" when it comes to his ability to strike a compromise.

His comments were in reference to ongoing talks with lawmakers about authorizing medical marijuana in New York state.
