Deal on medical marijuana reached

KEN LOVETT

Gov. Cuomo is set to announce a deal to legalize medicinal marijuana in New York Thursday afternoon, a source said.

The Legislature acquiesced to Cuomo's demand that the bill include a provision for no smoking of the drug. The governor would also have the power to suspend the program if recommended by the state health commissioner or state police superintendent.

They were considering backing an actual non-republican to run against him in the primaries, but they demurred because he promised them he would stop being so openly Republican supporting. Anyone that buys his promise is an idiot. A challenger from the left would have forced him left much more than procuring a promise will.

I usually vote a straight WFP ticket, but I will break from them on this asshole.

Don't Let Gov. Cuomo Derail NY Medical Marijuana

Dear Dennis,

We have until midnight tonight to pass New York's medical marijuana bill before the legislative session ends.

But Governor Cuomo is demanding 11th hour changes that could gut the bill and make it hard for patients to safely access their medicine. To make matters worse, he's threatened not to sign the bill if he doesn't get his way.

Please call Gov. Cuomo and Senate leadership today in support of passing the original Compassionate Care Act immediately -- not a watered-down version that won't meet patients' needs.
New Yorkers have fought for years to treat their illnesses and conditions with medical marijuana as dozens of other states across the country have. We can't back down now.

Governor Cuomo is demanding tougher rules that do not strengthen the program-- they only serve to make it harder for patients to get their medicine.

The governor wants the program to prohibit smoking marijuana and only give patients access to edibles. But for many patients undergoing chemotherapy or suffering from chronic pain, smoking marijuana is the fastest way to obtain relief.

Cuomo's concerns about exploitation are unfounded and will simply restrict access for people who need it the most.

We're running out of time: today is the last day of the legislative session. Please urge your lawmakers to pass the comprehensive Compassionate Care Act today.

Please call Gov. Cuomo and Senate leadership today in support of the Compassionate Care Act.

Thanks in advance for your support. Just Say Now will continue to organize in support of the Compassionate Care Act until it is enacted in-full and patients in New York have full, safe access to their medicine.

In Solidarity,

Brian Sonenstein
Campaign Director
Just Say Now

I followed up on it, but I should have posted it in GD where it may not have been ignored here.
Hopefully their email list was long.
