De Blasio administration to stick with concrete boardwalks after Sandy

ERIN DURKIN

The de Blasio administration will continue its predecessor’s policy of replacing wooden boardwalks with concrete, the city’s Sandy recovery czar said Thursday.

“The use of concrete in boardwalks is not going to change at this point,” Daniel Zarrilli, head of the Office of Recovery and Resiliency, told the City Council, saying the move “is a sound decision and that stands.”

'both can be easily destroyed'. Last I checked, it took a heck of a lot more to destroy slabs of concrete than it does two by fours.

it looks like they did at least make some minimal attempt to make it look like planks, just far wider ones than the originals.
