In Dallas, Mayor de Blasio goes national with fight to end 'Tale of Two Cities'

ERIN DURKIN

n Dallas Sunday, Mayor de Blasio launched an effort to take his anti-inequality agenda national with mayors from across the country.

De Blasio will chair a task force dubbed Cities of Opportunity to come up with ways that local governments can combat the “Tale of Two Cities” he said exists not just in New York, but in cities around America.

“When I ran for mayor last year I talked about a Tale of Two Cities. I think every one of us understands that phrase from our own perspective,” he said in a speech to the United States Conference of Mayors.

“We have to help this nation address this crisis,” he said, bemoaning a lack of action in Washington in the face of the erosion of the middle class. “We have to show them that this is an American crisis, that this kind of growing inequality is fundamentally un-American.”
