Sharpton: ‘Let’s move on,’ Rangel won

Azi Paybarah

The Rev. Al Sharpton, who withheld his support from Rep. Charlie Rangel, said he now considers him the winner in the 13th Congressional District primary.

“The voters have spoken," Sharpton said on MSNBC this afternoon. "Congressman Rangel certainly appears to have been the victor. And I think people have the right to examine every vote but I think we’ve got to move on now and heal the community."

"We do not need black against brown against white," he continued. "I’ve asked for all the candidates including Congressman Rangel, who won, to be at a unity rally this Saturday” at the National Action Network headquarters in Harlem.
