PA Primary and voting

Voted around 9:30 in person at my usual polling location. No line, poll workers wearing masks, but not required for voters. I chatted with the judge of elections for a bit and was told about 500 absentee ballots of 1700 voters. Gotta say I love the paper ballots and scanner. You feed your own ballot in, the scanner reads it, records the votes and then you hear a soft clunk as it falls in the ballot box.

We have a closed primary so you vote for candidates from the party in which you are registered. Not many contested races for either party. The biggest open Dem office is Auditor General as current aud gen DePasquale is running in PA-10 against Scott Perry. I voted for Nina Ahmed. There's a candidate from each big region, Michael Lamb (Conor's uncle) from western PA, Scott Conklin from Centre County (central) and Ahmed from eastern PA.

but it's all white guys!

Aside from Catherine Baker Knoll and Barbara Hafer, it's been that way forever. Kathleen Kane got more votes than anyone when she ran for Atty Genl, but the good old boys network schemed to bring her down and succeeded.

I went online and checked to make sure it was recorded.

My thinking was that if something went wrong and they didn't receive my mailed ballot, I still had time to go and vote in person. No sweat, they have my vote on record. Yeah!

6. Was annoyed at Maddow tonight

Near the end of her show, she was talking about polling places being consolidated. She cited Allegheny county for having about 1/10th of the normal number of polling places open, but she failed to say that Allegheny county mailed absentee ballot applications to every registered voter allowing them to vote that way or that Gov Wolf issued an emergency order extending the time absentee ballots are accepted to Jun 9th as long as the ballot is postmarked today (6/2).

This kind of selective reporting is not helpful.

They sent me an email that my ballot had been received. I love voting by mail, especially after the news reported a ruckus at a polling place caused by some jerk In a MAGA hat refusing to wear a mask.
