AUSTIN (AP) — State Sen. Dan Patrick has defeated three-term incumbent David Dewhurst for the Republican nomination for Texas lieutenant governor.

Speaking to supporters Tuesday night, Patrick said the people of Texas had given him a "mandate," and he offered special thanks to his tea party supporters.

"Welcome to the grass roots of the Republican Party!" he said. "Tea party folks love America; and they love the Constitution; and they love free markets; and they love the Second Amendment; and they love Texas; and they love the liberty that was granted to them by God, and not government."

There was a teaser at the beginning of the show talking about the Tea Party triumph in the runoff elections with Dan Patrick stating, "If the Democrats think they're going to bring Obama liberalism to Texas and win they have a long, cold day in November coming."

John Ratcliffe who defeated Ralph Hall was on the show. They began by mentioning that Tea Party candidates defeated Dewhurst, Ralph Hall, Stefani Carter and Bob Deuell. The Tea Party activist Connie Burton won the GOP runoff to replace Wendy Davis in her Senate seat.

First guests were Wade Emmert of the Dallas Co. GOP Chair and Matt Angle of the Lone Star Project (Democrats). Angle was happy that the GOP nominated the dream ticket of Abbott, Patrick and Paxton are at the head of GOP ticket with their various flaws. Emmert did the normal cheerleading stating that their candidates will win. They talked about Patrick's mental instability and how it effects his political postions. Emmert states that the Tea Party influence reflects how conservative the electorate is.

Another clip with Patrick saying that the when Democrats talk about Battleground Texas that they picked the worst state to have a battleground on. Patrick is an arrogant schmuck.

Mention of the GOP state convention in Fort Worth this coming weekend and the controversy about the Log Cabin Republicans. They also spoke about the GOP position on repealing the guest worker program for immigrants and Emmert talked about the Texas Solution. Angle mentioned that Abbott looks weak while Patrick is leading as the strong partner.

Interview with Ratcliffe who doesn't have a Democratic opponent in his race. More . Ratcliffe is unsure whether he will support Boehner as speaker. He hasn't decided to join the Tea Party Caucus. He doesn't think that the Ryan budget plan is aggressive enough and thinks the budget can be balanced in four years.

Final wrap-up with Wayne Slater and the runoff election. Slater called Texas a Ted Cruz state and there is no penalty for going too far to the right.
