Prosecutor in Perry veto threat case doesn’t plan to seek governor’s testimony

Special prosecutor Michael McCrum, who is investigating whether Gov. Rick Perry abused his power, said Friday he currently isn’t planning to call Perry to testify before an Austin grand jury.

“Right now, there’s no plans for that,” McCrum said soon after arriving at a Travis County courthouse for a meeting of the grand jury.

Asked why Perry might not be called, McCrum demurred.

“That’s a matter of investigation I’m duty bound to keep confidential,” he said.
