When Bloviation Trumps Legislation
By Carol MorganRepublican politicians are experts in the art of empty rhetoric. From the VA crisis to Benghazi, the GOP is playing politics for personal and political gain, milking these problems for all they are worth. Now they have another political cow to milk: the rescue of Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl.
The right’s fetish with Benghazi is a sickness. It’s already been investigated by the independent Accountability Review Board, several congressional committees, four House panels and the Senate Intelligence Committee. The reams of documents produced are enough to kill a forest.
Where was the outrage at the 10 embassy attacks that occurred under the Reagan and Bush administrations?
In the case of the VA scandals, the GOP was as much the cause of the agency’s ineptitude as the overwhelmed staff. How much veteran-related legislation can you block and still expect an agency to take care of its clientele?
