Wendy Davis expands LGBT outreach

Last week, the Democratic gubernatorial nominee sat down for her first LGBT interview — with me. Read it over at the Texas Observer.

On Friday night, Davis appeared at an LGBT fundraiser in Austin attended by more than 350 people. And her campaign posted the below image on Facebook in response to the Texas GOP’s decision to add support for so-called “reparative therapy” to its 2014 platform.

Post by Wendy Davis.

Let’s hope Davis keeps up and increases her LGBT outreach, through Pride Month and beyond. The community’s size and political power in Texas shouldn’t be underestimated, and even Republican Greg Abbott may be starting to realize that this is a losing issue for him in the general election.

I was wondering when they were going to give her some attention. In my opinion, sometimes the media forgets she is running for Governor of Texas. How can we expect her to win when they ignore her? So frustrating. There should be stories about her everyday until the election with a front page story announcing her the winner in November. Of course when they ignore her, it makes it that much harder for her to win.
