Davis: Texas economy needs major investments

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Texas Democratic nominee Wendy Davis says her vision for the state's economy includes major investments in education, roads, water and a wide range of other issues - but won't say how much they cost.

Davis mostly stuck to earlier proposals in a speech Tuesday billed as a major economic address.

She called for implementing full-day prekindergarten statewide, boosting transportation funding and better monitoring state economic programs like the Texas Enterprise Fund.

Davis accused her Republican opponent, Attorney General Greg Abbott, of favoring donors and corporate interests. She said she was the only one in the race "with real-world economic development experience."
