Game wardens find king cobra that was on the loose near schools

Texas game wardens have recovered a king cobra after it slithered away from a home in Needville.

The 10-foot snake disappeared on Tuesday night from its owner's home, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office.

The area the snake escaped in is in a fairly rural area on Cloudt Road near Needville High, Junior High and Middle schools, said officials with the Needville Independent School District.

Officials said staff and faculty at the campuses knew of the issue but classes continued as normal.

Although it's venom is less lethal than many other snakes, it's size and the dosage makes the bite of a cobra among the most deadly in the world.
