Nation's first fully-inflatable hotel opens in Texas
Book a bubble under the Texas stars at Basecamp Terlingua
The clear, starry nights in Terlingua, Texas beg for a lodging accommodation with uninterrupted views. We've found just the place.
Erected in early December, the Basecamp Bubbles are separate 225-square-foot inflated spheres that can be rented for a getaway at rustic resort Basecamp Terlingua, near Big Bend National Park. They made their rental debut in December.
Each bubble is outfitted with a queen-sized bed, full bathroom, coffee station with mini-fridge and a small indoor seating area with a view of the Chisos Mountains. Just outside the globes there's an additional outdoor shower and another seating area with a fire pit.
Of course, anyone acquainted with a south Texas day might wonder how warm these sunlight-filled globes can get. The good news is each one is climate controlled and equipped with a daytime shade system that helps prevent overheating inside. At night they're illuminated to look like glowing orbs in the middle of the west Texas desert.
