Reports: Blake Farenthold has resigned as lobbyist for Calhoun Port Authority

Former Congressman Blake Farenthold has submitted his resignation as a lobbyist for the Calhoun Port Authority, media reports indicate.

The Victoria Advocate and Port Lavaca Wave both reported that Farenthold submitted his resignation to the port board in a Jan. 4 letter. It was announced at the port officials’ meeting today by executive director Charles Hausmann.

Haussman told the media that Farenthold has left “to pursue other opportunities.”

Farenthold was hired by the board last May as its first full-time legislative liaison at an annual salary of $160,000.
It came shortly after he resigned from the U.S. House of Representatives prior to an ethics investigation stemming from allegations of sexual harassment and employing taxpayer funds to settle it.
His hiring at that time prompted an intense backlash, both from inside and outside the district.
