The Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA) has put up two billboards along Interstate 35 entering Austin after the city council voted last month to cut the Austin police budget. One of them reads: "Warning! Austin defunded police. Enter at your own risk!"

(21,859 posts)1. Uh, this is not really a smart idea to disparage the voters of Austin, and it's misleading too,
they didn't totally shut the funding down, they cut the budget, which a lot of cities, towns, states, etc. are all doing, in these difficult of times for all of us. Very misleading and I think it's burning a lot of bridges w/ the tax payers.

(7,512 posts)3. Two things I have always thought was strange about Texas (lived here for 48 years but not native)
They are outrageously anti-union for the most part but don't have a problem with police or pro-sports unions and they just love to criticize Austin which is the premier city in Texas for lots of reasons.
These redneck, hillbillies, and shitkickers are a plague on this state and I wish they'd all go back to Oklahoma where they came from.
Peace!!
