Chinatown businesses reeling from property damage, looting during weekend protests
SEATTLE -- All over Chinatown-International District, Seattle city crews have shored up businesses with plywood to protect them from vandals and looters.
The Seattle Police Department says more than two dozen businesses were tagged or had windows smashed in and cash registers taken across the neighborhood over the weekend.
Many places like Jade Garden, Fortuna Cafe, Pho Bac, Dim Sum King, and Washington Federal were among the businesses targeted.
"Whats happening to small businesses right nowbeing hurt and vandalized, that just (makes me) speechless, said Eric Chan, owner of Jade Garden. "It happened Saturday night. Our restaurant was already boarded up. But they pried off the plywood. They pried it off and then smashed through the window and went to the cash register and destroyed a bunch of stuff in there.
