Tacoma Mayor Strickland Proposing Sick Leave Ordinance:

http://www.thepierceprogressive.org/sickleaveproposalmayorstrickland

Monday, December 8, 2014

What: Mayor Strickland of Tacoma is proposing a paid sick leave ordinance.
When: Tuesday, December 9 at 3:00 p.m.
Where: Tacoma Municipal Building North, 733 Market Street, Room 16, Tacoma, WA

This Tuesday in a special City Council meeting, Mayor Strickland is finally going to propose a paid sick and safe leave ordinance for all Tacomans. We are asking people to sit in the audience and show their support for a strong paid leave law.

This means:

Nine days of paid leave per year
"Same day" sick leave
Fairness for tipped employees like restaurant workers
Being able to use paid leave to deal with domestic violence or stalking situations
Prohibiting your boss from disciplining you for legitimately using paid leave

Try to show up at least 20 minutes before 3:00 PM, as space will be limited. There will be no public comment in this meeting, but we will provide signs for you to wave to show your support.

Please note that this will NOT be in the regular Council chambers. It will be in the Municipal North building (right next to City Hall), in room 16 on the first floor. The entrance is on Saint Helens Street.
