Why Are “Urban” Kids Excluded From Summer School Meals Program In The GOP Budget?
by Jesse Berney

Want to know how to practice racism without ever mentioning race? Take food away from “urban” kids and give it to “rural” ones.

And in a surprising twist, the bill language specifies that only rural areas are to benefit in the future from funding requested by the administration this year to continue a modest summer demonstration program to help children from low-income households — both urban and rural — during those months when school meals are not available.

In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past 60-70 years, “urban” is code for “poor blacks” while “rural” is code for “poor whites.” So House Republicans have released a budget for the Department of Agriculture that declares that white children are more important and more worthy of government aid than black children.

This isn’t even subtle racism. When conservatives like the ones running the House of Representatives complain about welfare recipients, they have a very specific image in their mind: inner city blacks, too lazy to work, living off our tax dollars instead of being productive members of society.................

So much better to just stay in the tony suburbs of DC where all the big money is and suck up to those that have it.

Make the rural poor THINK they are the deserving ones (so they will continue to vote against their own economic best interests), but won't actually have to FEED anyone.
