Wisconsin: Walker Adds Another Kangaroo To Wisconsin Supreme Court

This is for the seat held by the late Justice N. Patrick Crooks.

http://cognidissidence.blogspot.com/2015/10/walker-adds-another-kangaroo-to.html

Three people - Joseph Donald, JoAnne Kloppenburg and Rebecca Bradley announced their candidacy for the seat. The primary will be in February and the general election will be in April. As predicted, Walker announced today, just months before the election, that he was appointing his political ally, Bradley, to finish the rest of Crooks term:

Gov. Scott Walker announced Friday he is appointing to the Wisconsin Supreme Court conservative appeals court Judge Rebecca Bradley, who is already running to fill the vacant seat. Walker made the announcement at a news conference at the Capitol.

Walker previously appointed Bradley to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court in 2012 and the 1st District Court of Appeals earlier this year. She won re-election to the circuit court position in 2013. He said his criteria for the selection included integrity, an understanding of the law and recognition that the role of a justice is to uphold the constitution and laws of Wisconsin.
This is Bradley's third political appointment in as many years, despite her alarming lack of judicial qualifications.

The two years that Bradley served as circuit court judge was at children's court in Milwaukee, and she didn't even oversee all the types of cases that are there, much less any other type of court proceeding. She didn't even serve for five months as the politically appointed appellate court judge before Walker gave her another bump up today.

She maintains that Bradley was appointed...sure...but...according to my colleague, she won re-election in a "strongly liberal judiciary district"..

unfortunately I don't know enough about Bradley's background or the demographics of her district to know if this is true....so I didn't argue the point, but

my conservative colleague says that Bradley isn't a "true" conservative and she has questions about how she will perform on the bench....

I think there's a snow job being done here...but I think my colleague was repeating what she has been told and believes it....

comments?

Rebecca Bradley, per the Journal-Sentinel, "once belonged to the Republican National Lawyers Association and led the local chapter of the Federalist Society, a conservative lawyers group. She contributed $1,750 to Walker's campaigns since 2005." Other members of the Federalist Society are Justices Scalia, Thomas, Alito, and Roberts. Scott Walker has now appointed her to three judicial positions. Does all that make her a "true conservative"? I think so.

Her judicial district is all of Milwaukee County. She was reelected in a spring election where, unfortunately, many Democrats especially in the city of Milwaukee do not vote. The Republicans in the suburbs do, and are well and truly incited by the right-wing radio talkers. Mary Burke won with 63% in Milwaukee County in a November election. Rebecca Bradley won with 54% in April.

I guess that conservatives speak in their own code and I guess I'm not attuned to most of it....I am guessing that this is what's going on....

"milwaukee" in wingnut language is must be code for liberal...or perhaps even "people of color" ,"blacks", "tree huggers" or even "gays" or "homos".

ergo...anybody elected in Milwaukee is a "libtard" or, if they happen to have an "R" behind their name, they are either "RINO" or "moderate" (which is also code for "libtard&quot

Exploring conservative culture must be like exploring a village in a remote jungle....the culture, language and rituals are almost that foreign to me.
