Van Hollen should refuse to be Walker's errand boy

When a Dane County Circuit Court judge ruled that Gov. Scott Walker's assault on labor rights was "null and void" because it violates basic premises of the state and federal constitutions, the governor denounced the jurist as a "liberal activist judge" and -- without reading the ruling -- announced that it would be overturned.

Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen announced that he would follow the governor's lead and seek to prevent implementation of the decision -- and the restoration of collective bargaining rights for teachers and municipal employees across Wisconsin.

So, is Van Hollen now Walker's lawyer? He's not supposed to be.

The attorney general is supposed to represent the state.

But the state is more than Walker.
