If I did the arithmetic right...the sequester cuts Wisconsin $7.48 per person.

Only Mn has a smaller per capita hit.

Either our funny accent states, ya know, eh?, are much better at getting sequester-proof money from the feds or DC isn't spending NEARLY enough money on us.

Something smells like a bucket of leftover bait minnows in the back of the van.

I agree this is a factor, but do you think WI has 1/5 of Rhode Island's military facilities? HereSince1628 Mar 2013 #4

Other than Coast Guard stationed on the Great Lakes, we don't have much except a couple of National Guard/Air National Guard bases.

I do think asymmetries in military/HSA/border security/federal prison spending is related to the asymmetries of the sequester but I am not sure that's the entire story.

Clearly nothing in WI sums up to rival the military presence in Virginia, and Virginia's 3rd place rank in sequester cuts reflects that.

But, Rhode Island ranks 16th by per capita sequester cuts, and WI is 49th.

Fort McCoy is roughly the size of Ft. Leonard Wood, both about 95 square miles, (FLW is a much better know facility because it does basic training). Fort McCoy trains about 100,000 people per year...that's the equivalent of 1/10 of Rhode Island's entire population.

WI has more armories, more air reserve wings, and more coast guard stations than Rhode Island. It could certainly be that we don't have as many flag officers or high paid consultants.

Walker already gave back the high speed rail money and now the Medicaid rejection.
