across the pond, what is this?

We used to have bottles of milk delivered by the milkman and left on our doorsteps way back when, so when you got up in the morning you would go outside and get your fresh milf

There probably were plenty of milkmen who saw mothers that they'd like to ... shall we say... give them more than just two pints of silver top...

The last "milk float" I saw was diesel powered, and was delivering still to my aunt and grandmother. And while the milkmen primarily delivered milk, they would deliver other things too like bread, orange juice and soda.

I think they are a very rare beast indeed - apparently though - having just googled about 3% of milk is still delivered by a milkman

So yeah they switched to diesel vans a long while back since fewer and fewer people were using the milkman, depots were closed down and the electric milkfloats just didn't have the range or speed. In the 80s the milkfloat (electric) was a familiar sight to me... By the 90s our family got the milk from the supermarket instead. My dad's family though continued with the milkman, and still do.
