Best tablet
for $200 or so with at least 10 inch screen.
Any suggestions?

Will this be used to play games?
What quality screen resolution?
Will it be used to listen to music?
How much traveling will be done with it?
Is this for yourself or as a gift?
This review from early 2014, probably out of date by now, given prices dropping and newer tablets coming out since then.
Edited to add: The Google Nexus 7 mentioned in this video is currently available around $200 at Amazon, and probably other places as well. Amazon has literally dozens of tablets listed for under $200.

Thanks for the suggestions.

(725 posts)If you get the chance, get out to a Best Buy store, or even Radio Shack or some other major chain that sells several models. Get them in your hands and try a few out.
They will all be light, (under a pound, maybe some under 12 oz), not considering the power cord attachment itself.
The videos you want to watch, like streaming Youtube videos, or even Netflix films, some will do an excellent job for $200 or less.
Consider sound quality for the videos, also.
Some will last 8 hours or more without being plugged in, some will last only 3-4.
Perhaps some other people who own some models will post here in the next day or so.
Good luck in your search, prices might also drop after the Christmas season, sometime in Jan, or they might not.
Here's another written review I found, just by Googling "Best Tablets under $200"

(1,328 posts)that I want a tablet too. Mostly use a desk top but would be nice to have something more portable at times.
I don't know much about them either, want sound and the ability to do emails along with web access.

(3,655 posts)I have 4 Windows based tablets and another is on the way. The new one has more computing power than many desktops. All are Fujitsu(made in Japan). They are expensive new but can be had for reasonable prices on ebay. I recommend the Q702. It is a business grade tablet running Win 7 Pro or Win 8 Pro.

As you can tell, I know nothing. Thanks for the information on the Q702, might look into this.

(3,655 posts)The Q702 has two full size USB ports. There is a USB 3(higher speed) port on the left side and a USB 2 port on the right side. The left side also has a SD card reader. The right side also has a full size HDMI port(for attaching newer TVs). It also has mic and headphone jacks, volume controls, screen rotation controls and a wifi switch.
You can do anything that you can do with a full size PC and more. It has handwriting and voice recognition. You can create posts on DU by writing them out and it converts them to text. Same goes for speech. It also has an accurate touch sensitive pen with a right click button(like a mouse). You can draw or use it like a mouse.
It is a quality built machine. The back of the tablet is metal and removable. You can update the hard drive easily(5 screws). New they list for over $1000(just the tablet) or $1500 with keyboard/dock/battery.
BTW I will be probably selling my Q702 in a few weeks if the new one works out.

(1,328 posts)and it looks fantastic.
I think that it is probably much better than what I need. We still have the desktop and a cheap laptop that I hate but want a tablet for convenience and portability.
I appreciate all the information you gave me.
