What if the CO &US Democratic Party asked CO Secretary of State Griswold to run for the US Senate.

Griswold-D is current statewide elected official (elected CO Secretary of State in 2018 by an 8 percent margin against a sitting Republican incumbent.) She would be the first female US Senator from CO.
Here is a list of US Senators who served as a low level statewide elected official in the middle of their first term before getting elected to the US Senate.
Hawley(R-MO) MO Attorney General(2017-2019) before unseating McCaskill-D.

He seems pretty popular--i would think a primary against him would be a tough battle.

He can get appointed by future President Biden-D to serve as US Secretary of Education or White House Chief of Staff.
If Bennet leaves the US Senate in 2021, Governor Polis will pick Bennet's successor.
US Representative Joe Neguse.
Neguse is the 6th most progressive Democratic US House member.
He has ran for statewide office in 2014(CO Secretary of State).
Neguse is on the US House Judiciary Committee cross examing Bill Barr.

CO has yet to have a female US Senator.
They could have asked former CO-4cd US Representative Betsy Markey to run.
Markey was elected to the US House of Representive from CO-4cd in 2008 by unseating controversial Republican incumbent Marilyn Musgrave. Markey lost re-election in 2010 to Gardner.
Markey ran for CO State Treasurer in 2014 against Republican incumbent Walker Stapleton-R losing that race by a less than 5 percent margin. 2014 was a Republican wave election year.

If Bennett leaves in a (hopefully) Biden-won new administration, Griswold and several others would be good candidates.

However, your comment runs awfully close to suggesting you won't support Hickenlooper who IS our candidate now. Is THAT your intent?

He might not have been your choice in the primaries and I had qualms too, but I think this needs to stop.
