The Time To Unite Is Now

The time has come for Bernie to suspend his campaign and to get behind Hillary.

We have a unique opportunity to present a vision of a unified Democratic Party over the next 8 months leading to the GE. Such unity will stand in stark contrast to the chaos in the R Party. We have the opportunity to present an image of reason, hope and unity that will pay political dividends all the way through the R convention and beyond.

There are many who will say that BS needs to stay in the race. That his doing so strengthens Hillary as a candidate. Boy, do I disagree. Not as long as the Sanders campaign spends most of its time tearing down Hillary, reinforcing RW lies about her character. Not as long as Sanders' followers think of him as the messiah and Hill as the devil incarnate. Zealous Sanders supporters are going to be the most difficult group of voters to win over to Hillary this fall, and the sooner Bernie starts to win them over, the better.

The choice is clear: Bernie can spend the next months traveling across the country chasing much- needed votes that he will never win in even the rosiest of scenarios, or he can get on the bus and become an effective surrogate for Hillary and the down-ticket races. He can help th Ds keep the WH and take back Congress, or he can navel gaze and delude himself into believing he still has a shot at winning a contest that he lost back in NV.

As long as Bernie stays in the race, the media will continue to play their false equivalency card, equating any ongoing contest in the D Party with the chaos and even the Stop Trump movement in the R Party. It's what they do, and it's the major reason so many people think both political parties are the same.

The benefits of uniting now far outweigh any possible benefits of Bernie continuing his battle against Hillary. Time to unite in the battle against our common foe, the Republicans.

But the unity message is a strong message that needs to become part of the ongoing political narrative.

We need to start somewhere, sometime. That's why I'm starting here and now.

The worst thing we as a Party could do is to sit back and let Bernie be Bernie at a time when the negative consequences of his self-centered behavior will be amplified.

he should concede and unite the party now.

It's sounds so wonderful the way you put.. the very best case scenario!

Thank you, stopbush~

The "revolution" didn't happen. In fact, substantially lower Democratic primary turnout.

Even so, Hillary has received more votes than any other candidate in either party!

Hillary is campaigning on what she could accomplish in the real world we have today.

Can you imagine what she would do if we just stand back and watch the Republican Party self-destruct, and the DC landscape changes to Democratic majorities?

We do need to unite for one common purpose - supporting the Democratic nominee in November.

So long as Bernie keeps running, resources are fruitlessly wasted (with Bernie maintining his counter productive attacks on Hillary) in the nomination battle when it is now clear Hillary will win in both pledged and super delegates.

Bernie should gracefully concede for the good of the party and the country. Try posting this where there are minds to change and you will find out how unity flies with Sanders's followers. They are going to keep sending him enough $$$ to stay in and attack Hillary Clinton until June. And that is what he is going to do.

Unfortunately Sanders has let his ego cart off whatever good sense he might have had. He is showing himself to not be a Party guy at all, but then looking back--he never was. He is all about Bernie Sanders.

Once she got a taste of the big league, nothing was going to keep her from that. She was in denial up until McCain conceded. She wanted to speak that night but McCain said no. The look on her face throughout his concession speech was priceless.

Bernie will be the same way until the end. He wants his moment at the convention so he can spew whatever it is he's been spewing all this time. He won't be sending a message of making the party stronger by uniting.
