Venezuela To Pursue Coup Plotters Judicially In The US

CARACAS, June 5 (BERNAMA-NNN-AGENCIES) -- Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro said he will start judicial actions in the United States against alleged conspirators in a plot to kill him.

Those targeted include senior State Department officials and Venezuelan citizens living in the U.S., which he alleged were involved in an assassination plot recently uncovered by Venezuelan authorities.

Maduro said on televised program Tuesday the Venezuelan government would turn to its international consultants and attorneys with the evidence presented to prosecute these individuals.

Top Venezuelan authorities said they uncovered on May 28 a coup and assassination plot against Maduro planned by opposition leaders, international financiers and officials of the U.S. State Department.

The authorities accused former deputy Maria Corina Machado of being behind the plans and revealed several emails allegedly written by her that linked her directly to promoting a violent change of government in Venezuela.

Maduro said there was new proof showing the communications between national opposition leaders and senior U.S. officials were established through emails belonging to State Department domains.

3. Interesting factoids from the article:

Ortega said 174 people remained in custody for violent crimes committed during the wave of anti-government protests.

She said only 17 of those detained are students, contrary to the assertions of government opponents who claimed the protests were mainly spearheaded by students, and that many of them remained in detention.

Uh, huh!

Thanks Judi.

I hope President Maduro has verifiable evidence that can not be disputed !!!!!!

I hope he blows the lid off all the underhanded things the U.S. government is doing to try to destabilize the government of Venezuela.

They dogged the late great Hugo Chavez to his grave.

It saddens me how much they have stagnated the progress that Venezuela could have made.

I am pleased with the progress that has happened, despite the interference of the U.S., and the traitorous Venezuelans that live in the U.S.

The U.S. powers that be want access and control over the oil in Venezuela.

They will stop at nothing to get their hands on it.

They want to stop the Bolivarian Revolution !!!

The U.S. government does not represent the needs of the working people.

They disagree with any country, or government that does.

Greedy ruthless pigs.

We have only the entire history of Latin America to use as a pattern.

NOT Democratic, not by a mile, and they need to stay out of other people's business.

Your points are accurate.

We all are totally aware the policy remains the same regardless of who's in charge, unless the President has really powerful morals.

Pick up a book, why not, and step away from molesting Democrats who come here to communicate with Democrats?

Either that, or Obama lacks "powerful morals".

With Democrats like you, who needs Republicans?
