ReMastered: Massacre at the Stadium will be released on Netflix in January and explore the real-life torture and murder of singer and political activist Victor Jara under the General Augusto Pinochet regime. The documentary is part of the ReMastered series from Netflix which looks at some of the most high profile names in the music industry and key events that shaped their lives and legacies. Previous ReMastered documentaries have included Who Killed Jam Master Jay? about the Run DMC rapper, Who Shot the Sheriff? which focused on Bob Marley, and Tricky Dick and the Man in Black that concentrated on Johnny Cash and Richard Nixon.

When is the Victor Jara documentary released on Netflix?
ReMastered: Massacre at the Stadium will be airing on Friday, January 11 with UK audiences able to watch the show from 8am on the day of release.

The documentary will look at the brutal murder of Victor Jara, who has been described as Chile’s answer to Bob Dylan.

Pinochet’s regime - which was in power from 1973 to 1990 - is thought to have killed an estimated 3,000 people.

The bodies of more than 1,000 people who vanished during this period are still being found to this day.

. . .

According to the Guardian, military officers broke Jara’s wrists and hands as well as playing Russian Roulette with him before he was executed.

Jara was held prisoner at the national stadium in Santiago along with others, who had been taken by the regime and deemed to be a threat.

The film also follows former Chilean army official Pedro Barrientos Núñez, who is alleged to have played Russian Roulette with Jara before ordering the singer to be shot.

Barrientos fled Chile in 1989 and now lives in Florida with US citizenship through marriage.

The Chilean government has tried to extradite Barrientos from the US and put him on trial. He also faces a court order from the State of Florida to pay £22 million ($28 million) to Jara’s family.

(Probably Barrientos had the photographer drive him to
a neighborhood where he DOESN'T live to snap this photo,
while conceiling his true address.)

Pedro Barrientos Núñez Is there any reason this piece of filth should still be living free in Florida,
like so many OTHER right-wing Latin American killers hiding from the people's justice in their
own countries?
