The asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs struck the Earth at the most deadly angle, researchers believe.
Scientists have created the first 3D simulation of the moment an asteroid struck the earth at the deadliest angle of 66 degrees - an event that triggered a nuclear winter and wiped out dinosaurs.
The angle of this asteroid strike caused tonnes of sulphur to be unleashed into the upper atmosphere.
This blocked off the sun from the Earth and brought on the nuclear winter that laid waste to dinosaurs and 75 per cent of life on earth 66 million years ago.

Simulations
Drawn from a combination of 3D numerical impact simulations and geophysical data from the site of the impact, the new models are the first fully 3D simulations to reproduce the event.
It charts the initial impact to the moment the final crater, now known as Chicxulub, located in present-day Mexico was formed.
