Hugo Chavez Keeps Showering the Poor

http://www.fair.org/blog/2013/02/25/hugo-chavez-keeps-showering-the-poor/
But it seems like their real problem with Chavez is that he gives away stuff. What do they mean by that?

Venezuela has a state-owned oil company, PDVSA. Under Chavez's rule, the company must put more money into social programs like healthcare and education. The government has also taken a harder line with foreign-owned private companies doing business in the country. And when he took office, Chavez pushed other OPEC nations to limit production in order to increase the price of oil.

These are policies one might find disagreeable; but in the Chavez years, as best we can tell, these decisions have been enormously beneficial to the public that owns these public resources. But when corporate media write about these policies, they can barely disguise their real feelings–as if the natural order of things would mean that private companies managed the oil industry and captured the profits.

But how likely are you to read a story in a newspaper like the Washington Post about how private oil companies are "showering" themselves with profits gained at the public's expense?

which some here chose to conveniently ignore.

Aside from which :

by 2006 : Chavez has introduced a literacy program which increased their literacy to 93% from 50% .
http://www.mtholyoke.edu/~tarr22v/classweb/modernsocialism/venezuela.html

By 2010 : Venezuela’s EDI ranks it 59th in a list of 128 countries, up from 64th three years ago. It has an overall EDI of 0.956 (where 1 is the highest), an adult literacy rate of 0.942 and a rate of 0.959 for survival rate to grade five. It is worth nothing that on this list, Norway ranks first, Japan second, Cuba 14th, the United Kingdom 9th, Mexico 55th, China 62nd and Niger last at 128th. The United States does not appear on the list. http://venezuelanalysis.com/news/5107

The Leadership of BOTH dominant political parties, along with almost ALL elected members, are unified in the condemnation of Chavez and these emerging true democracies in Latin America,
in addition to unified SUPPORT for the few remaining Right Wing Police States, like Colombia.
In addition to being the 3rd Largest recipient of US Foreign Aid, Obama just rewarded Colombia with a brand new "Free Trade" Treaty for their friendship to the American Ruling Class.

You would think that a country such as ours that pays unending lip service to "democracy",
we would be more supportive of the emerging populist democracies in Latin America.
Most, if not ALL, of these true democracies have elections that are more honest, open, transparent, and verifiable than those held in the USA.

On this ONE Issue, there is complete agreement.
Kerry, Hillary, Obama, Gingrich, Rush Limbaugh, Joe Biden, Ann Coulter, and Sean Hannity ALL agree that these emerging true democracies are a THREAT to the American Way of Life, and MUST condemned and neutralized.
Who would have EVER thought that ALL of the above could EVER be in total agreement about ANYTHING?
