Bellevues part-time firefighters have waited out months of uncertainty, working irregular shifts without receiving benefits, just for a shot at a full-time job at the department.
Now, after months of political wrangling, Bellevues first-ever full-time firefighters are on the job, and they are ready to prove themselves to the city.
Its exciting, said Anthony Rogers, 40, one of the citys 21 new hires. Its a little humbling because weve worked so hard.
Many of us feel like this is the best job in the world.
