How soon can I add new job to resume

I just took a new temporary position after a prolonged period of unemployment. It's generally in my field and could lead to something permanent, but it's farther than I want to commute and of course, no benefits at the moment. Should I go ahead and put the position on the resume or should I wait and get some accomplishments under my belt?

Is there a 30 or 90-day new empl review period? If so, I'd wait until after that. n/t woodsprite Mar 2013 #1

but understand that if you send your resume out with a very recently added start date, it will set up a red flag with most employers. Why are you looking already since you just started a job? Identify it as a temporary position and include any contract dates if they apply for clarification.

Otherwise, I'd leave it off until you were there at least three months, and probably better to wait six months... if the position last that long, and if you are willing to stay there.

If you leave after a short period of time, and the position adds to your skills and experience include it but again, identify it as a temporary or contract position. Be prepared to answer why the position ended, especially if you ended it and still wish to use it on your resume.

Good luck!
