Southcentral Alaska under high wind and flood warning for third time in two weeks.

Parts of east Anchorage are without power (again). Cordova got 17 inches of rain in three days last week and it's still coming down over there. We get storms, but seldom like this. Must be that melting polar ice cap.

I saw your last post, but never heard what happened. Our local weather people think weather ends at the Canadian border.

I live on the west side of Anchorage which doesn't catch the full brunt of these storms , but I have friends on the east side who are having continuing power issues. My concern is what this portends for winter. We had an extremely snowy one last year and if this moisture continues, I would guess that this year will be the same.

People are still cleaning up here from the first wind storm a couple of weeks ago. I read in the paper yesterday that thousands of trees are down up near Tok on the Alaska Highway, as well.

I know what you mean about the weather stopping at the Canadian border. We're always amused when some little snow storm or flood gets such breathless treatment on the nightly news. We're like "You call that a snow storm??".

We get the same thing down here around the Great Lakes, with areas near the coast just being dumped on with snow.
