The prime ministers of Australia and Canada joined their conservative voices in Ottawa on Monday to stress the need for economic growth over policies that address the climate crisis.
"Im happy to call you an exemplar of center-right leadership," Australia's Tony Abbott said of Canada's Stephen Harper. "Much for us to learn, much for me to learn from the work youve done," he said.
Abbott and Harper downplayed the threats of climate change, and said that they would not take any measures to address it that would "hurt the economy."
Abbott said climate change is "not the only or even the most important problem that the world faces."

But of course it turns out that they also have a combination of psychopathic leaders & batshit-crazy followers who are capable of overwhelming the saner elements of the electorate, just like here. They'd better be careful, or they'll end up like us, with no public health plans, no minimum wages, etc.

and to match the Libs have gone Dem, relying on their own voters' complacency and thereby moving rightwards ("Ignatieff will keep us out of Iraq even though he said he'd join, since he's a Lib and Lib's don't support invasions even when they openly do"
the NDP's fighting has become fitful, and in BC they act like the Libs (Reform's the teabaggers)
the world has become neoliberalized and only Latin America and Scandinavia (both reliant on oil prices) and Germany (reliant on leveraging its neighbors) have swum against the tide: in a neolib world ALL the parties are dragged towards neoliberalism (in Britain the Tories are neolib, Labour's run by neolibs, and the LibDems are split between neolibs and those who "just go along with neoliberalism so we can get some good stuff done, but don't vote us out if we don't"
