Phoenix Jewish community to hold prayer vigil for kidnapped teens
alley Jewish groups are joining Jewish communities around the world in holding prayer services for the three Israeli teens kidnapped last week.
Valley Beit Midrash, in partnership with the Jewish Community Association of Greater Phoenix, the Israel Center, the Phoenix Board of Rabbis and Moishe House Phoenix, will hold a community rally and prayer vigil 7 p.m. Thursday, June 19, at the Valley of the Sun Jewish Community Center, 12701 N. Scottsdale Road, Scottsdale.
"We've organized this communitywide prayer vigil because we believe we must raise our voices of moral conscience at this time of great turmoil," Rabbi Shmuly Yanklowitz, executive director of Valley Beit Midrash, told Jewish News. "We wish to tell these three teenagers, their families, and the people of Israel: We are with you!"
Congregation Beth Tefillah held a special prayer session for the teens during its Saturday Shabbat service on June 14 and approximately 50 women gathered at the Phoenix Community Kollel on June 15 to recite tehillim (psalms). On June 16, Ahavas Torah hosted a public prayer session for men, women and children.
