Lambda Literary Awards go to best LGBT books

The End of San Francisco, Mattilda Bernstein Sycamores impassioned memoir that chronicles her troubled childhood including sexual abuse and her evolution into a radical activist, is among the winners of this years Lambda Literary Awards.
Now in their 26th year, the Lammys, as they are known, celebrate the best in LGBT literature. The awards were presented last night in New York at a ceremony hosted by comedian Kate Clinton.
Published by City Lights of San Francisco, Sycamores book won the award for Transgender Nonfiction. In his 2013 Chronicle review of the book, Michael Bronski wrote, This journey of a life that begins in the professional upper-middle class
and the Ivy League and moves to hustling, drugs, activism Sycamore was active in ACT UP and Queer Nation and queer bohemian grunge, is profoundly American.
Other Lammy winners include Hilton Als for LGBT Nonfiction for White Girls, published by San Franciscos McSweeneys, and, for Lesbian Erotica, Wild Girls, Wild Nights: True Lesbian Sex Stories, edited by Sacchi Green and published by Berkeleys Cleis Press....
