Somalia's al-Shabab militants impose dress code

Somalia's al-Shabab militants have rounded up around 100 women and ordered them to comply with a strict Islamic dress code or risk being whipped....

...Because it was their first offence, they were not punished but they could be whipped in public if caught again.

Our analyst says the temperature can reach 35C (95F) at this time of year and so many women preferred to wear lighter, traditional clothes than those approved by al-Shabab.

The women were told to wear a niqab, which covers all of their body and face, leaving just a small slit for their eyes...

But I have found that when I post to GD about issues regarding women, LGBTs or race, the threads scroll right off the page. It happened again this morning. And since it's my understanding that cross posting is discouraged, I'd rather post threads to a forum where they will at least be visible for more than a couple of hours.

Of course, anyone is free to post this news wherever they like. And thanks for the response.

that is news to me and Discussionist is set up to make it easier to crosspost so, I don't think Admin disapprove of it.

Perhaps this is a misperception of mine or could be the attitude towards crossposting has relaxed over the years.

8. if it ever was that way, it has relaxed just like every other "hard and fast" rule there ever was.

there are no rules, to my understanding ... only CS = Community Standards and those are only what any seven DUers decide at any given time they are collected to rule.
