I have a Trigger Finger

I'm 61 and about 3 weeks ago I woke up with the ring finger of my left hand bent into my palm. It's like a trick finger where when I bend it far enough, it "catches" and I have to use the other hand to "snap" it back into place.

It doesn't hurt so much as it's inconvenient, like for tying shoelaces.

I'm going to go for therapeutic massage and hopefully physical therapy. I know I can get surgery but I'm holding off on that until I've tried other things.

Although these days that might be a time saving condition. 😬. Seriously, good luck getting it straightened out.

After two cortisone injections that wore off after two months each time I opted for surgery. Had a good orthopedic surgeon and recovery was fast. I can hardly see the scar on my palm. It was my right ring finger. I also had two injections for two fingers on my left hand that did not wear off so you might get lucky with those. I would go right to the surgeon and not waste time with the other things. He did the injections too.

With trigger finger and have had the good fortune of recovery from them without any medical intervention. It is an annoying affliction. Best of luck to you.

With me, it was cause by a nervous habit of pushing the thumb against the other hand. I recognized and stopped doing that. It went away.

I took Ibuprophen. That may have also helped as it is an anti-inflammatory product.

The cortisone shot was fine, but now it's back and pretty painful, so I've scheduled the surgery.

I've been wearing a single finger push on/pull off metal splint on the finger religiously. When I take it off for short intervals, there is less pain and less "trigger finger" where I have to straighten it. I'm also taken NSAIDs (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, such as Tylenol and Advil).

I'm still going for therapeutic massage.
