Im here,,

not my proudest day by any means. I lost yesterday, Im back to day 1 I failed. folks from this group have reached out and I think I may have scared them with my honesty. I did not mean to question anyone's beliefs, or make any replier to my OP feel like it did not matter to me. I read all replies,,answered as many as I could. my mental and physical realities took over, and I did struggle to bring both in check, more my mental faults because I could not walk away from a simple jerk/asshole response.

I lost yesterday,, I still love and respect this group.. today,,I am back where I am each day...I only need to win today

I go to meetings and so often after a slip, someone is too embarrassed or ashamed to come back. But what they need to realize is that they need to come back where they belong - among friends who empathize and understand - and are always grateful to see them. Sober support is so important, to realize that we've all been there and understand. Keep Coming Back is what we tell everyone, among friends is where you belong. It's just one day - and One Day at a Time is all any of us have - whether you have 30 years or 30 minutes - in the early days five minutes counts.

Being sober is like building a wall brick by brick. If you have a relapse, it's like knocking a few bricks from the wall. You still have most of it left. Build it back up from there. It's not like starting over. The wall represents all the tools in your arsenal.

I spent a few days ignoring my replies to posts. Embarrassment, sense of futility and some arrogance prolly to blame. Ty for support.

11. Please, Do not give up. If Recovery From Addiction was "easy" then it would be "easy"

...Recovery is not easy...Please hang in there. We need to keep going. Here is a "political example" In 72 Democrats lost by tremendous margin to that crook Nixon. McGovern did not have a good campaign, and I worked in that one.
... By the next election, 4 years later, 76, Nixon was gone, he resigned, and we had a Democrat in the White House, Jimmy Carter. We do not give up. Please do not give up this battle with addiction. Recovery is not easy. Beating an addiction is one of the hardest activities a person can do. All I can say after more than 35 years in recovery, is that it is not easy. And yes, I have had relapses too. We try to take it "One Day at A Time" or "One Minute at a Time." We do not give up.. (I started in Overeaters Anonymous, and now go to AA as well as other 12 step programs)
