Status report.

Still have weakness in my legs, got vertigo, and a lower, gravely voice.

What I can eat has expanded. Today it was mashed potatoes, peas, sauerkraut, and turkey hotdogs. Still take some nutrition through the tube, and a liter of water a day. I still have swallowing issues. There is no way I can drink a liter of water a day.

Napa Cabbage is one of my go to vegetables. I use it in a salad, or cooked with garlic, sesame seeds, S/P, tamari, and a bit of sesame oil at the end.

You never stop experimenting with the diet -- that's great!
Treatment gives us our lives, but it's up to us to make good use of them. Gotta always look ahead.

That Napa cabbage recipe sounds good. Glad you are doing better. Sounds like you are getting veggies and protein.

I am hoping my mom does not have cancer but she is ill regardless and can't eat. The biggest problem I have is getting her to eat stuff. She dislikes almost everything now.

As of this date she has lost something like 20 lb/9 kg since some time in April. I hope it is just a diabetes medication change or anxiety.

All she will eat are grilled cheese sandwiches aside from liquid foods.

Make sure she stays hydrated and loved.

Grill cheese sounds lovely. I might have to do some today.

When I got my first Chemo, I tried to eat some french fries. I couldn't taste salt. It is horrible when nothing tastes good. I could smell the food, so I had to enjoy the smell of whatever my wife was eating. I hope she can grab a bit of joy like the smell of bacon or Italian dressing.

I read your thread to her to cheer her up/distract her as we are awaiting biopsy results..She winced a little at the reference to bacon so that is definitely not on even the olfactory menu .....your mashed potatoes and peas could work though.

It is a headscratcher cheffing for someone who has become averse to all flavors..I am giving her apples stewed until they are just mush..plain bread etc.

Sorry to hear about you awful experiences with chemo...What kind of cancer did you have if you don't mind my asking? And how long has it been? You seem to be doing much better which is great . I will keep an eye out for your updates..

Squamous cell carcinoma caused by the HPV virus. That made it easier to treat. I was given a forty percent chance of survival. So far so good.

At VA they automatically send you to the shrink. That’s a nice perk for us veterans.

If you are a primary care giver, be sure to do something nice for yourself. You don’t want to burn out.

I hope you continue to do well. Mom was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma yesterday. We are dealing with it.
It was a bit of a shock but now we are trying to be positive. There are treatments now and I am hoping she lives a long, happy and healthy life regardless.

All the best ro to you alfredo. I will check in here off and on.

Do your best to keep her life normal and her fighting spirit intact.

I saw cancer as a challenge. It helped keeping my spirits high.

Let her know there is life after cancer. Be patient.

When things got bad, I ate some weed, put on good music, and slept the day away. Now I can't do the weed anymore, but music never fails me.

I am logging off for a while. Right now I cannot stand to see these people the GOP, Fox News, Kanye, Zuckerberg etc. . An unsavory lot at the best of times....I'll be back though.

FYI your posts cheered me up and I will check back in here later. I wish you all the best. I will check for your updates. Here is wishing all the people in this forum good health.
