http://cookingwiththemark.blogspot.comIngredients
1 package frozen artichokes
5 garlic cloves, minced
pinch of red pepper flakes
2 leeks, washed and chopped
2 c white wine
1/2 c orange juice
1 T orange zest
1 pound medium shrimp, chopped into bite size pieces
1 handful chopped parsley
1 pound fettuccine
Directions
In a large frying pan, saute garlic and red pepper flakes in olive oil until garlic is soft, about 3 minutes. Add leeks and cook until they begin to wilt. Add wine, orange juice and artichokes. Simmer for about 7 minutes. Continue cooking until liquid is reduced by half. Meanwhile cook pasta and drain but don't rinse. Add shrimp and parsley to frying pan and cook until shrimp are done. Fold cooked pasta into the shrimp sauce and serve with plenty of parmesan cheese.

That sounds yummy. I wonder if the taste of the Orange comes through?

(22,685 posts)2. The key is using the orange zest
You can definitely taste it.

Wonder how a lemon substitute would work? I'd make it first per the directions ....then possibly venture into experimenting.
(I like to mess with stuff, but I would use restraint and do the first batch according to the directions.)

(22,685 posts)5. Sometimes I squirt a little lemon in it as well
But it's more tart than orange. I like the subtle flavor of orange zest.
Sounds good!
