(106,886 posts)Trying to figure out what to do with a bag of dried apricots I've had sitting on the shelf...probably an oatmeal & apricot lunch.
I have workers in doing a kitchen floor project, but if it goes smoothly I would like to do grilled pork kebobs with red, green, and orange peppers and onion. Also, I think I'll grill some romaine from my garden.
Yesterday's slow cooker chicken soup that was supposed to start cooking at 11:30 a.m. turned into a pressure cooker soup made around 7 p.m. That's because I went out shopping for herbs at the garden center and errrr, well, you know what happens to gardeners at the garden center(s).
Used recipe from here:
Would never have thought to put soy sauce in my chicken broth, especially for a recipe called "Farmhouse Chicken Soup with Noodles." So delicious that I had two bowls.

(aside) I'll use soy sauce in almost anything. It's not just for rice anymore. Fish, chicken, beef, grilled veggies, actually anything grilled, salads, soups.

(2,016 posts)The oven repair guy came by today. What should have been a 5 minute job (replacing burned out baking elements) is going to a be 3-day job. Whoever worked on the ovens previously, screwed everything up. Now my 2 wall-oven units need to pulled out, rewired correctly, and put back in. (The leads to the baking elements are so short, the whole unit(s) need to be pulled and lengthened. Just to replace the elements...)
<sigh>
Thankfully, I'm a renter, so it's not out of my pocket. Sadly, no ovens for me.
I'm thinking pizza or Chinese for takeout.
