Maybe a "Bee's Knees" while we sit?

For those who are worrying about their dinner, it might be that serving a few rounds of these could ease that worry. And many others.

The Bee’s Knees cocktail is a gin, lemon and honey classic that dates back to prohibition. The phrase “bee’s knees” was prohibition-era slang for “the best.” In that time, the addition of ingredients such as citrus and honey were often used to cover the less than ideal smell and taste of bathtub gin. Improving the taste of an inferior gin may have been the goal, but the result was a fantastic concoction that can hold its own today.

This is at the end of a number of recipes that were shown on the telly this morning...

Bee’s knees
Yield: 8 portions
Prep time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

14 oz saffron infused gin
6 oz honey simple syrup
4 oz lemon juice, freshly squeezed

Directions

1. To make saffron infused gin, add two pinches of saffron threads to one bottle of gin. Let stand for 24 hours and strain.

2. To make honey simple syrup, combine 3oz each of honey and water. Simmer for three minutes until honey is dissolved. Store in refrigerator until ready to use.

3. Stir all the ingredients to combine. Chill and serve over ice.

I have some saffron I need to use and I always have some gin on hand since gin and tonic is my favorite drink, Think I'll try this out. Just made a new drink, a watermelon cooler that used pureed watermelon, lime juice and gin.
